Birds in Ainhoa

There are a lot of birds in and around the garden and woodlands at Les Hauts d’Ainhoa.

Harriers can be recognised by the way they fly. They are often in the skies above the garden.

You can hear and see woodpeckers in the trees round the garden.

Oak jays sometimes visit the house sitting on the terrace or in the trees around the house.

You can see vultures very high up in the clouds above the garden. They live higher up in the Pyrenees.

We are lucky enough to have a little owl in the forest behind the house. You can hear it’s call at dawn when it’s hunting.

If you look carefully you can see the chiffchaffs looking for insects in the bushes round the garden.
